Joyce Moxley (founder and director) began her journey in education over 30 years ago. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Joyce began her teaching career at the preschool level. Two years later, after having two children of her own, Joyce found that "there was no program or person that could care for my children as I would.” She found it was a joy to provide a caring, nurturing atmosphere for her own children.
Not many years later, Joyce returned to teaching. Joyce continued to improve her professional skills through education, completing two Masters of Education degrees (Elementary Education and Dyslexia Therapy) at Mississippi College. She also certified through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards as a Master Early Childhood Educator, and is a certified Academic Language Therapist.
A little over ten years ago, Joyce had the opportunity to become a certified primary and Lower Elementary Montessori educator through the American Montessori Society. She traveled to New York to earn her Montessori credentials. In addition to conducting workshops and field consulting, Joyce has served as a consultant for Educational Sounds & Images.
Her passion is to provide a high quality educational atmosphere to help students develop their fullest potential and also to discover the great joy of learning. Montessori education is a powerful pedagogy that is continuously validated by brain research. It is not a fast paced, fill your head to the brim kind of learning, but one inwhich the curriculum spirals, embracing the spirit of affirmation, confidence, and joy of learning beyond traditional curriculum.
